Benelux Virtual College Fair

Benelux Virtual College Fair

Join us for the first ever Benelux College Fair on Tuesday 27 October 2020! Advisers from EducationUSA Advising Centers in Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands are teaming up to put on a virtual undergraduate recruitment fair. Open to all accredited U.S. colleges and universities, this event will connect HEI representatives to hundreds of local and international students, parents, and counselors from across the Low Countries.

College Fair Schedule

Join us for an introductory presentation about studying in the USA led by EducationUSA Advisers from Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. We’ll talk about the Five Steps to the U.S. Study, from finding the right fit for you to financing your studies, and will address the logistics of the fair. All participants are encouraged to attend this presentation.

Let the fair begin! From 18:00 to 20:00, you are invited to meet with the six representatives listed on your personalized virtual college fair schedule. Your schedule is based on the information you provided in your registration from, and will be sent to you ahead of the event by an EducationUSA Adviser. Please email event organizers if you wish to make a change to your schedule.

Didn’t get to finish your conversation? Still have additional representatives you want to talk to? From 20:00 to 21:00, representatives will be available at their virtual booth for unstructured conversations with students and parents. During this time (and throughout the fair), you may also choose to return to the EducationUSA Adviser Zoom Room to ask general questions about studying in the USA, to learn more about the visa application process, or to get technical help navigating the fair.

FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS

Organized by a team of EducationUSA Advisers, the Benelux College Fair is a virtual college fair for students in Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. This free event provides high school students and their families with unparalleled access to representatives from over 30 U.S. colleges and universities in order to learn about higher education opportunities in the United States.

Who should attend the Benelux College Fair?

We welcome students of all ages as well as their parents, siblings, teachers, and counselors! Our primary audience is secondary school students, including those in their last year of studies (“seniors”) who are preparing to submit applications to U.S. universities as well as younger students who are beginning to consider their post-secondary school options. Most of the representatives represent undergraduate programs, but can also answer basic questions about graduate enrollment at their institutions. Please note: if multiple members of one family intend to attend the fair on different devices, each member should register separately.

Who will I meet?

By attending the Benelux College Fair, you will have the chance to meet one-on-one with representatives from colleges and universities in the USA and American-accredited universities in Europe. You can learn about their institutions and ask them any questions you have about the university admissions process!

How will the fair be organized?

During the first two hours, you will be able to visit the virtual booths of six different colleges or universities in a series of twenty-minute rotations. (You will receive a personalized schedule based on the information you provide in your registration form.) There are no rotations during the final hour: it’s a great time to return and finish your conversations or to meet representatives from other institutions!

What happened to the fair I attended last year?

Due to the public health threat posed by COVID-19, EducationUSA Advisers made the difficult decision to cancel our in-person college fairs in autumn 2020. We hope that Brussels College Night, Luxembourg College Night, and the Amsterdam Ivy Circle College Fair can resume next year!

FOR REPRESENTATIVES

The Benelux College Fair is your one-stop shop for recruitment in the Low Countries! This unique virtual fair is a one-time opportunity for American colleges and universities to meet prospective students from Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.

Who will I meet?

We expect the Benelux Virtual College Fair to attract a mix of secondary school students and parents from across the region, including from the many international schools around our capital cities. Students in this region who are interested in pursuing undergraduate studies in an English-speaking country are familiar with the United States and the high quality education available at American colleges and universities. While this is our first time using a virtual platform, a combined total of nearly 1000 students participated in our in-person events last year!

How will the fair be organized?

While a virtual fair cannot replicate the enthusiasm of an in-person recruitment event, our goal is to allow representatives to meet with as many students and parents as possible while keeping participation costs low for U.S. HEI participants.  In keeping with other EducationUSA events in the region, like the 2020 EducationUSA LL.M. Tour, we have opted for a hybrid fair model that incorporates the preferred virtual platform of each individual institution instead of a dedicated virtual platform.

Is the number of participating universities limited?

Yes! In order to ensure the quality of the event for both university representatives and prospective students, we will be limiting the number of participating institutions. If you are unable to join us this year, we hope that you’ll sign up and visit us in person in 2021!
