The Fulbright Commission/EducationUSA center will host a webinar presented by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) on the U.S. credential requirements for International medical graduates (IMGs) who pursue residency and fellowship in the United States.
This webinar is designed for all interested students enrolled in medical studies who consider pursuing a medical residency and a fellowship in a hospital in the U.S. The webinar will focus on the requirements that IMGs must observe in order to be considered for such programs in the U.S. After the presentation, participants will be able to make questions.
Attendance is free of cost, but students must preregister using the form below. Registered students will receive a link which will grant them access to the webinar.
The webinar will be on Thursday, November 17th, at 4pm (Lisbon time).
In order to give more complete answers to the questions, participants are encourage to send their questions in advance.
ECFMG Representatives will present a comprehensive overview of the requirements for entry into U. S. accredited programs of Graduate Medical Education (GME). The topics of discussion will include the following:
1) The ECFMG Certification process
Registration for the U.S. Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs)
Primary source verification of the medical school transcripts and diploma.
2) Steps and critical timelines when applying to U.S. GME programs
Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
National Residency Matching Program (NRMP)
3) U.S. immigration requirements for participation in GME training in J-1 visa status
4) Questions and answers, websites and resources.
